This sexy, funny new novel asks: Can a woman find a modern-day Mr. Darcy in Daytona Beach?
At thirty, Grace O'Bryan has dated every loser in Daytona Beach. After the ultimate date-from-hell, Grace decides to turn her dwindling book club into a Boyfriend of the Month Club, where women can discuss the eligible men in their community. Where are the real life twenty-first century versions of literary heroes such as Heathcliff and Mr. Darcy?
Could it be successful and handsome Brandon Farrell, who is willing to overlook his disastrous first date with Grace and offers financial help for her parents' failing Florida gift shop? Or maybe sexy dentist Joe Rosenblum, who's great with a smile but not so great at commitment? Unfortunately, like books, men cannot always be judged by their covers...

From Publishers Weekly
Grace O'Bryan has not had good luck with men, so she and three book club friends decide to form a boyfriend club to review the bachelors of Daytona Beach, Fla. Soon Grace finds herself in the difficult position of managing two men: Brandon Farrell, a wealthy businessman, and Dr. Joe Rosenblum, a bighearted dentist. Could one of them be her Mr. Darcy? Though some of the ridiculous situations strain credibility (as when Grace chips her tooth while unwrapping a tampon), her dedication to her warm Cuban-Irish family and their struggling tourist shop is earnest and charming. Geraci (Bunco Babes Tell All) fills the fluffy but enjoyable story with literary references, and her leading lady is endearingly flawed. Romance readers will revel in the Austen-perfect happy ending and the warm friendship among members of the club. (Dec.)

From Booklist
Grace O’Bryan has dated her share of Daytona Beach duds, and so have her girlfriends. They decide to devote their monthly book club to comparing notes on the men to avoid. When Grace’s friend Ellen creates a website and a clever ranking system based on literary heroes and villains, the boyfriend-of-the-month club gains a huge following. At the same time, Grace has started dating Joe, her new dentist. He’s handsome, sexy, and altruistic, yet something’s missing between them. Meanwhile, Brandon, a wealthy and charming investor, is trying to help Grace save her family business, and Grace’s friends are sure he’s her one. Geraci, author of Bunco Babes Tell All (2009), is not the first to compare her characters to Mr. Darcy and his brethren, and while this device isn’t unique, her quirky characters and colorful setting certainly are. --Aleksandra Walker

Fun chick lit/romance, likeable characters
By Scamp
This was a nice, feel-good read with a cast of characters that are well fleshed out, sympathetic, interesting, and funny. Even the 'villains' were fun. Interestingly enough, for me, the family business turned out to be a character in its own right; it had a life of its own, and I enjoyed its role in the book.
Above all, the saving grace in The Boyfriend of the Month Club is the heroine herself, Grace O'Bryan. She has some issues with emotional intimacy that she is forced to explore as she wends her way through the train wreck of her love life. (The wreck expands as the book progresses, sometimes with great hilarity.) Grace has some quirks, which to my surprise, as outlandish as some of them are, actually work in this book: like her conversations with a large plastic alligator and his 'responses' to her questions and observations. (Yes, she gets caught.)
Grace has a tight-knit circle of friends, a loving multicultural family, and a few often-clueless romantic hopefuls to keep her busy. Geraci has crafted some amusing adventures, which turn into misadventures on a dime, and enough hilarious moments to keep you laughing.
I liked Grace's relationships with her family, particularly her father, and with her friends. She is loyal to family and friends and strives to do the right thing by her loved ones, even in the midst of chaos, and is conflicted when she feels she has not.
Who will Grace end up with? It's tough to guess, especially when the very nature of the Club backfires and all heck breaks loose. I didn't know until the reveal. Oh, and I'm not telling. I do recommend this book if you like fun chick lit.

warm and funny
By oatmellow
Maria Geraci writes another engaging story about friendship and love. The Boyfriend of the Month Club is funny and warm and very smartly written. Follow Grace O'Bryan as she attempts to resurrect her dying book club by turning into a boyfriend of the month club by comparing the men she (and the other women in the group) have dated to literary heroes and villians. Her life becomes a little more complicated as the club becomes the talk of Daytona Beach. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves to laugh and fall in love while doing it!

My favorite so far.
By C. Duggan
I really loved the idea of a boyfriend of the month club and I also loved the way it got totally out of control. LOL Grace is a very funny, believable character and I totally understood her feelings about the men in her life. Her family were expertly drawn and made great secondary characters, and even though I am terrified of dentists, I actually warmed to Joe by the end and to Brandon.
So it you want a warm, funny, read, try this book, you won't regret it.
