Swords and Mischief
By Sassy girl
I have followed this series from its beginning.
This mystery satisfied my craving for a cozy mystery.
I adore the place where time takes a step back.
What a fun idea to have a mystery series set at a renaissance faire.
I loved this story.
It made me laugh, and finding out"who done it",
didn't matter a hoot.
The characters brought a lot to the table.
Finding out who killed whom is an added treat.
Even though I figured out the culprit early in the story,
I still had a great time meeting Robin Hood and his gang,
and other characters from this mystery.
At their website page, they even have a map showing
where each building is located.
Kudos to this team.

a jolly fun read
By Autumn
All 3 books in this Renaissance Faire series have been witty, funny and a jolly good read. If the setting alone isn't enough to capture your attention, the authors have a wildly entertaining background of characters reminiscent of many of the old zany romance films of the 1930s. Bravo! Having been to several renaissance fairs in the heat of summer, I felt right at home with the descriptions of shops, historical dress, jousting knights and faire food. Throw in a murder or two and watch out! The book cover art is also beautifully done.
A few editorial errors and phrasing miscues are a fault of the editing, not the authors. Perhaps there is an over abundance of background romance going on with the characters that sometimes could be hard to keep up with...I am not overly fond of the "round robin" view of sexual trysts that the writers seem to be promoting. The brother has a new "fairy" on his arm ever other day it seemed and even the main female character has questionable ideas on romance. None of it is explicit and this is a cozy mystery series, not a romance series so it take it as it is. I will admit, I wanted to strangle a few fairies by the time I finished the last book.
Overall, none of that was enough to overrule the outright fun of this series. Very enjoyable. I would recommend it to all fans of the cozy mystery genre!

DEADLY DAGGERS ARE DANGEROUS
By Lori Caswell/Dollycas
A Renaissance Faire Mystery
Berkley Prime Crime Mystery
Release Date September 7, 2010
3rd Book in this Series
Greetings and Salutations,
It's a Renaissance Faire complete with Robin Hood and his Merry Men, a Pirate Queen and her Pillagers, a Brotherhood of Monks, a Wizard, Serfs, Fairies, Wenches and Nobility, what could go wrong.
This tome, following Wicked Weaves and Ghastly Glass, finds college professor, Jessie Morton, apprenticing with master sword-smith Daisy, as she continues research for her Ph.D. dissertation, Proliferation Of Medieval Crafts in Modern Times.
Excitement in the village is growing as it is learned that the famous, Alastair the Great, a master dueler, also thought to be immortal, is making a special appearance, for a duel, at their faire village. Jessie is stunned to learn that Alastair and Daisy were involved in a courtly love affair several years ago. Alastair is also known for his collection of deadly daggers and possession of these daggers may be the cause of his untimely death, which also lays to rest the question of his immortality.
Due to their past and a her victory over Alistair in a surprise preview of the main event, Daisy is a prime suspect for his murder. She also has no alibi for the time of the death and one of the deadly daggers is found in her bag. The case seems open and shut, but Jessie and her boyfriend, Sir Bailiff, Chase, thinketh there is much more to the story, as the daggers continue to be found all over the village.
Jessie is doing everything she can to find the real killer when Chase's brother and his ex-fiancee, show up at the village to drag Chase back home to the family business no matter the cost. She will find the killer and fight to keep her man if it the last thing she does, and if she is not careful it just may be.
I LIKED IT!!!!
This has been an enjoyable series, set in a magical place and time, with a truly colorful cast of characters, and more than their share of mysterious happenings. My one problem with the series was the many love stories taking place in the backgrounds, both present relationships and past, it was sometimes a little overwhelming. As these are cozy mysteries there are no steamy love scenes, just the perception of them in the background. The story is full of humor and is a great whodunit, a true mystery. It will be interesting to see where Jessie apprentices next.
